Lightning Prediction System |
![]() The Township of Dennis has recently installed a Thorguard Lightning Prediction System at the Recreation Complex on Dennisville Road. The system is designed to predict a lightning strike within a defined geographical region. Once pre-established detection limits are reached, the system activates a series of horns and strobe lights to warn those in the park to seek shelter. Since this system is automated it can provide a warning even when there appears to be no evidence of lightning. The system will be on alert during the hours of 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. When conditions for a lightning strike exist, the system will sound a 15 - second blast from the horn cluster and the strobe light will turn on. Anyone who hears the signal should immediately stop any outside activity and seek shelter. One danger has passed, the horns will activate an all-clear signal of three short 5 - second blasts and the strobe light will turn off. *No system is one hundred percent accurate. Everyone should immediately seek shelter any time they believe lightning threatens them, even if a signal has not been sounded. |

Registration Policy |
The municipal auditor has directed this office to deposit (within a 24 hour period) any monies collected for recreation programs. | Baseball/Softball Mandatory Concession Stand Work Requirement |
|
The concession stand is the primary source of revenue for the baseball/softball program. Registration fees do not cover the cost of league fees, let alone field maintenance and improvements, equipment, uniforms and supplies. The difference between the registration fees and the actual costs is bridged by the income that the stand generates. Without this income, registration fees would need to be increased substantially. The concession stand requirement was implemented to help ensure that there were enough "volunteers" to keep the stand operating. Please take the time to carefully read the following:
